Hugh Evans

Co-Founder & CEO at Global Citizen

Hugh Evans is the co-founder and CEO of Global Citizen, an international advocacy organization aimed at ending extreme poverty around the world. Evans has dedicated their life to fighting for social justice, and has been instrumental in raising awareness about global poverty and its solutions.

Evans got their start in activism with The Oaktree Foundation, which they founded in 2002. The organization is dedicated to providing educational opportunities to communities in developing countries. Under Evans' leadership, The Oaktree Foundation grew into a powerful force for change, fundraising for projects around the world and advocating for justice in Australia.

In 2006, Evans left The Oaktree Foundation to attend law school. Hugh graduated from Corrs Chambers Westgarth in 2009, and began working as a lawyer for an international law firm. However, they quickly realized that their true passion was still in fighting for social justice. In 2011, they co-founded Global Citizen with a group of like-minded individuals, and has been working tirelessly to end extreme poverty ever since.

Through their work with Global Citizen, Evans has helped to secure over $48 billion in commitments from governments, businesses and philanthropists to end extreme poverty by 2030. Hugh has also been recognized as one of Time magazine's 100 Most Influential People in the World (2015) and Fortune magazine's 40 Under 40 (2017), among other honors.

Hugh Evans studied for an MPhil in International Relations at the University of Cambridge. Hugh then went on to study for a Bachelor's degree in Law and Science at Monash University.
