Global Environment Facility
Galina Angarova is a seasoned leader in advancing Indigenous Peoples' rights and cultural heritage. Currently serving as Co-Founder and Executive Director of the SIRGE Coalition since June 2020, Galina provides strategic direction and serves as the primary spokesperson while managing key relationships and fundraising efforts. Additional roles include Member and Independent Expert of The Indigenous Peoples' Advisory Group at the Global Environment Facility and Co-Chair of the Global Alliance of Indigenous-led Funds at the International Funders for Indigenous Peoples. Previous experience includes Executive Director of Cultural Survival, Program Officer at the Swift Foundation, and Policy Advisor at Tebtebba Foundation, with a strong background in grant management and program implementation. Galina holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from The University of New Mexico and a Bachelor’s degree in Philology from Buryat State University.

Global Environment Facility
The Global Environment Facility (GEF) is the largest multilateral trust fund focused on enabling developing countries to invest in nature, and supports the implementation of major international environmental conventions including on biodiversity, climate change, chemicals, and desertification. The GEF was established on eve of the 1992 Rio Earth Summit, to help tackle our planet’s most pressing environmental problems. Since then, the GEF has provided over $114 billion in grants and mobilized in excess of $70 billion in additional financing for more than 4,000 projects. The GEF has become an international partnership of 184 countries, international institutions, civil society organizations, and private sector to address global environmental issues.
