Mandakini Jathavethan

Mandakini Jathavethan is a seasoned professional in human rights and legal advocacy with substantial experience in research coordination and analysis. Currently serving as a Research Coordinator at Global Human Rights Defence since February 2022, Mandakini launched the East Asia team, guiding interns in media coverage and legal assessments of human rights violations in East Asia. Previous internships at organizations like the Center for the Study of Democracy, ILGA World, and Praja Foundation offered Mandakini opportunities to engage in research on religious extremism, LGBTQ rights, and sustainable development goals. An educational background includes an LLM in International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights from the Geneva Academy and a BA, LLB (Hons.) from the National University of Advanced Legal Studies. Prior legal experience spans corporate law roles, providing extensive legal support and transactional advice in various firms.
