Russell Smith

Russell Smith is a GIP Australia Partner, having joined the firm in 2015. He is a member of the GIPA Investment Committee and based in Brisbane.

Mr. Smith is an experienced transport infrastructure executive with an engineering degree, an M.B.A. specializing in strategic management and over 30 years’ experience in the transport infrastructure sector. His initial career was spent on the provision of advisory services for the transport industry in the Asia Pacific, before moving into the direct acquisition of port and rail assets for Babcock & Brown, Prime Infrastructure and Brookfield whilst based in London.

Returning to Australia in 2010, Mr Smith was the CEO of the newly privatised Port of Brisbane until 2015, before joining GIP and leading the acquisitions of Pacific National and Port of Melbourne.
