Mike Smith

Chief Maritime Officer at Global Support and Development

Mike Smith, OBE has extensive work experience in various roles, primarily in the military and international policy sectors. Mike most recently served as the Chief Maritime Officer at Global Support and Development since 2022. Prior to that, they worked as the International Policy Director at NATO Allied Command Transformation (ACT) from 2020 to 2022, where they led a team in providing policy expertise for the Alliance Defence Planning Process. Mike also served as the Director for Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response at the U.S. Pacific Fleet from 2017 to 2020, responsible for creating and delivering the fleet's strategy for disaster response in the Indo-Pacific region. Additionally, they worked as a Policy Advisor at the British Embassy Washington from 2014 to 2016, advising on defence policy matters. Mike began their career in the Royal Navy, serving as the Commanding Officer of Their Majesty's Ship SOMERSET from 2012 to 2014, where they were responsible for the ship's operations and diplomatic activities in the Middle East.

Mike Smith, OBE completed their Master of Arts degree in Defence Studies from King's College London in 2010.
