Karen Shires

Karen Shires serves as the Chair of PwC New Zealand, a position held since July 2021. With extensive experience in risk management and assurance, Karen previously held roles such as Chief Risk Officer and Assurance Quality Partner at PwC, where responsibilities included providing regulatory risk services and overseeing internal and external audits. Karen has been actively involved with various organizations, including Global Women as Chief Risk & Reputation Officer and a Board Member of the New Zealand Auditing and Assurance Standards Board. Additionally, Karen is a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting and Commercial Law from The University of Auckland.
