Jim Unwin has a diverse range of experience in the field of design and user experience. Jim started their career as a Designer/Coder at RE:Media in 1999 before moving on to The Workshop Sheffield in 2001, where they worked as a Designer/Coder. In 2002, they became a Freelance Illustrator, working for himself until 2004.
From 2004 to 2006, Jim worked as a Graphic and UI Designer at Lionhead, designing the interface for The Movies game. Jim then joined Kuju Brighton in 2006 as a Graphic and UX Designer, serving as the UI lead for the studio.
In 2007, Jim joined Media Molecule as a Graphic and UX Designer, where they were the sole UI designer for games like LittleBigPlanet and LittleBigPlanet 2. Jim remained with the company until 2012.
Jim then joined Sony as a Manager of Interaction Design at the Sony Creative Center, where they managed a team of designers and was involved in the design of PlayStation 4 and its core UI, social features, and various applications.
In 2015, Jim joined Glowmade as a User Experience specialist before transitioning to the role of Project Lead in 2021.
In addition to their work experience, Jim also ran their own consulting business, Jim Unwin Consulting, starting in 2016. In this role, they offered services such as product design, service strategy, user experience, UI design, and testing with a focus on implementing effective design strategies.
Jim Unwin attended Kingston University from 2002 to 2003, where they pursued a Master's degree in Illustration.
