Matt James

Senior Counselor at GMMB

Matt James is a Senior Counselor at GMMB. Matt has over 25 years of experience in communications and public affairs. Prior to joining GMMB, they were a Founding Partner at Vrge, a creative strategic communications firm for organizations looking to navigate their way through these disruptive times.

From 2011 to 2015, James was President and Co-Founder of Next Generation, a nonpartisan think tank and advocacy organization that promotes solutions to two of the biggest challenges confronting the next generation: the climate crisis and the risk of unchecked technology.

Previously, James served as Executive Vice President of The Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation, one of the nation's leading health policy research and communication organizations. Matt also served as Chief of Staff for Congressman Morris K. Udall, D-AZ, and as Communications Director for Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan.

Matt James has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications, Theater, and English from Western Michigan University. Matt also attended Troy High School.
