Martín Abente Lahaye

Martín Abente Lahaye is a seasoned software engineer and community leader with extensive experience in various roles within the open-source ecosystem. As a Core Engineer at Igalia since December 2024 and a long-standing Committee Member of the GNOME Foundation, Martín contributes to community building and projects across global and Latin American regions. Martín has held significant positions, including Chair of the Board of Directors at Codethink and Lead Integrations Engineer at Sorcero, where innovative solutions like Ingestum were developed. Previous roles include software development at Endless Computers, community volunteering for One Laptop Per Child, and mentoring through various educational initiatives, emphasizing the responsible integration of ICT in society. Martín holds advanced degrees in Software and Systems, as well as Computer Engineering and Computer Science from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and Universidad Católica Nuestra Señora de la Asunción.
