Todd Gascon

Todd Gascon has extensive work experience in the legal field, particularly within the technology and entertainment sectors. Todd has held various roles in different companies throughout their career.

Starting in 1999, Gascon worked as the Principal at their own Law Office until 2005. During this time, they provided legal services to digital media, healthcare, energy, mobile, software, and SaaS companies. Gascon's responsibilities included commercial transaction support, negotiation of complex agreements, creation of standard forms and policies, and chairing the entertainment and media practice.

From 2005 to 2014, Gascon served as a Senior Attorney at ZentLaw, where they continued to advise companies on commercial transactions and provided legal support to sales and business development teams. Todd also took on responsibilities related to data security and privacy policies.

In 2014, Gascon transitioned to senior roles in renowned companies. Todd worked as a Senior Counsel at TiVo, where they supported the product team in drafting and negotiating software and technology agreements. Todd also provided legal advice to TiVo Research & Analytics on ad tech and data license agreements.

From 2014 to 2016, Gascon served as a Senior Legal Counsel at Facebook through Paragon Legal. During this period, they supported various art, marketing, and technology initiatives, including Facebook's Project Aquila. Their responsibilities included drafting and negotiating software and technology agreements with global aerospace and technology vendors. Todd also advised on talent acquisition and creative elements for ad campaigns.

Following their time at Facebook, Gascon joined Autodesk as a Senior Legal Counsel in 2016. Through Paragon Legal, they advised Autodesk's public sector sales channel teams on go-to-market strategies and compliance with procurement regulations. Todd also negotiated software license and system integration agreements.

Gascon then moved on to Optimizely in 2016 and served as a Senior Counsel. Todd partnered with go-to-market and sales teams, providing commercial deal support and handling privacy and data security issues. Todd also offered general business and legal support on revenue recognition and deal desk matters.

In 2020, Gascon joined Amplitude as the Lead Counsel, Commercial. Todd took responsibility for providing commercial deal support for Amplitude's SaaS products, particularly in North America.

Gascon's most recent experiences include their role as an Associate Professor at the California Jazz Conservatory since 2010, where they teach a course titled "Legal Aspects of the Music Industry for Jazz Musicians." Todd developed this course to provide an overview of the music business, focusing on copyright, trademark, and contract principles. Gascon also taught students about key negotiation terms for recording contracts and license agreements.

Currently, they are serving as a Volunteer - MLC Educator Ambassador for The Mechanical Licensing Collective since 2022.

Todd Gascon received their Doctor of Law - JD degree from the University of Dayton School of Law between 1987 and 1990. Prior to that, they obtained a B.S.B.A. in Business Management from Ohio Northern University. Todd also pursued further legal education at the University of Dayton School of Law, earning another Doctor of Law (J.D.) degree.
