Bethany Hickey has a diverse work experience, beginning with their role as a Research Assistant and Child Life Assistant at Children's Hospital Boston in 2005. In 2008, they held an Administrative Associate position in Cardiology and the Newborn Intensive Care Unit at the same hospital. In 2010, they held a Public Relations Intern role at the University of Miami, a ReadyU Campus Ambassador role at Procter & Gamble, and an Events Intern role at Brigham and Women's Hospital. In 2011, they joined Teach For America as a Corps Member, teaching all content areas to substantially separate classroom of fourteen 7th & 8th graders with moderate to severe disabilities. In 2013, they joined Excel Academy Charter Schools as the Director of Special Education Projects, where they created systems for management of and accountability for Excel's special education department at the network level. Bethany was also promoted to Dean of Student Supports, where they oversaw Special Education and English Language Learning programming for over 230 students yearly. Finally, in 2020, they joined Goalbook as a District and School Customer Success.
Bethany Hickey attended Boston University Graduate School of Education from 2011 to 2013, where they obtained a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. Prior to that, they attended the University of Miami from 2007 to 2011, where they earned a Bachelor of Science in Public Relations and Political Science. In 2010, they also participated in a semester abroad program at Semester at Sea, University of Virginia, studying Political Science.
