Hanna Kalinowska

Hanna Kalinowska has a diverse work experience spanning over 15 years. Hanna is currently the Director of Engineering at GoCardless, a position they have held since November 2021. Prior to this, they served as the Senior Engineering Manager at GoCardless from November 2020 to November 2021, and as the Engineering Manager from September 2018 to November 2020.

Before joining GoCardless, Hanna was the Engineering Lead at Simply Business from August 2016 to September 2018. In this role, they were responsible for leading a team that delivered a custom telephony solution. Hanna focused on removing obstacles, addressing performance issues, and challenging team members to excel.

Hanna also worked as the Lead Ruby Developer at The People's Operator from April 2015 to July 2016, where they were responsible for delivering a mobile services store for US-based customers. Prior to that, they served as the Discipline Lead at Macmillan Science and Education from May 2014 to April 2015. In this role, they split their time between line managing a team and contributing code to projects. Hanna's responsibilities included managing team members, conducting performance reviews, organizing learning events, and participating in long-term planning of department architecture.

Earlier in their career, Hanna held various roles such as Ruby Developer 2 at Nature Publishing Group / Macmillan Science and Education from May 2011 to May 2014, Senior Development Manager at Pure Solo Ltd from September 2009 to May 2011, and freelancing as a Ruby on Rails developer from July 2007 to September 2009.

Hanna also worked as a PHP developer at LemonCode from August 2008 to August 2009 and as a PHP programmer at xpect.pl from March 2007 to August 2007.

Hanna's first professional experience was as a Translator at Polskie Radio, Oddzial Regionalny w Gdansku in June 2006.

Throughout their career, Hanna has gained extensive experience in engineering management, software development, and team leadership. Hanna has worked on a wide range of projects and has a strong background in Ruby and PHP programming.

Hanna Kalinowska has a strong educational background in computer science. Hanna obtained their MSc degree in Computer Science from the University of Gdansk, where they studied from 2003 to 2008. Additionally, they completed English courses from 1992 to 2002 and received a Certificate of Proficiency in English.

In terms of additional certifications, Hanna Kalinowska has completed several online courses through Coursera. In May 2014, they obtained a certification in Cryptography I. In November 2012, they completed the course "Functional Programming Principles in Scala," and in August 2012, they finished the "Machine Learning" course. The institutions providing these courses were all Coursera.
