Eric Schwartz

Chairman at Gold Bullion International

Eric Schwartz is a private investor with a focus on the financial services industry. In support of those investments, he served as Chairman-elect of Nikko Asset Management, the third ­largest asset manager in Japan, from 2008 until its sale in 2009, and currently serves as Chairman of Jefferson National, an insurance company that principally provides low-cost variable annuities to US consumers through the fee-based advisor community; as Chairman of Gold Bullion International, a precious metals dealer based in the U.S.; as a board member at lndostar Capital, a finance company based in India; and as a board member of Prosper Marketplace, an internet-based consumer lending platform in the U.S.

Earlier in his career Eric served on the Management Committee of Goldman Sachs, where over time he was co-CEO of the Global Equities and Investment Management Divisions and was a partner in the Equity Capital Markets unit of the Investment Banking Division. At the time of his departure in June 2007 he was also co-head of the Firm’s Partnership Committee, tasked with supervising the process of promoting new partners.

He graduated from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania with a B.S. E. (summa cum laude) and M.B.A. in 1984 and 1985, respectively.

He serves as Chairman of Securing America’s Future Energy (SAFE), an independent advocacy group dedicated to the development and implementation of a comprehensive energy security policy by the United States; as a director of the Food Bank for New York City; and as Chairman of an investment committee overseeing a large philanthropic endowment.
