Sidney Nguyen

Sidney Nguyen has a diverse work experience spanning different industries. They began their career as an Undergraduate Instructional Assistant at the University of California, San Diego, where they demonstrated a strong command of cellular neurobiology and provided support to struggling students. After that, they worked as a Research Assistant in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine, studying animal behavioral models and performing cranial surgeries for electrode implantation.

Sidney then joined the University of California, San Diego as a Research Technician in the Division of Biological Sciences. In this role, they investigated the relationship between the mutant p53 gene and NF-κB, assisted with ChIP protocols, and analyzed data for use in manuscripts.

They subsequently worked as a Research Associate at Absorption Systems, a Pharmaron company, evaluating the mechanisms and efficacies of novel drug compounds and teaching procedures for inducing Parkinson's Disease in rodent models.

Sidney then became a Graduate Research Student at Dartmouth-Hitchcock, where they demonstrated the efficacy of novel estrogen-receptor-β synthetic tetracyclic terpenoids in glioblastoma cell-lineages and investigated the molecular basis of ERβ downregulation in glioma cell tissues.

At Galvanize Inc, Sidney served as a Software Engineering Immersive Resident, instructing over 100 students in object-oriented programming fundamentals and reviewing and triaging student-written code for fluency and reusability.

Currently, Sidney is working at GoodLeap as a Software Engineer and has recently been promoted to Senior Software Engineer.

Sidney Nguyen pursued education in the field of Oncology and Cancer Biology from 2017 to 2021 at the Guarini School of Graduate and Advanced Studies at Dartmouth. Prior to that, Sidney obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Physiology & Neuroscience from UC San Diego, where they studied from 2011 to 2015.
