Mary Welling-Bonney has extensive experience in workforce development and community partnerships. Mary served as the Director of Workforce Development and Community Partnerships at Goodwill Industries of Central Michigan's Heartland since 2013. Prior to that, from 2012 to 2013, they worked at South Central Michigan Works!, first as a Skill Manager and Volunteer Coordinator, and then as a Talent Coordinator. Before that, Mary worked as a Career Manager at HRDI/South Central Michigan Works from 2008 to 2012. Additionally, they held the role of Employment Specialist at Peckham, Inc. from 2001 to 2007. Mary's early career experience includes being a Curriculum Development Specialist at Goodwill Industries of Greater Grand Rapids, Inc. from 1996 to 2001. In this role, they focused on developing an Employability program, gaining accreditation for classes, and leading various initiatives such as the Summer Project 2000 and the development of the first retail academy. Overall, Mary has a strong background in workforce development, career management, and program development.
Mary Welling-Bonney began their education journey in 1987 at Central Michigan University. Mary pursued a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a focus on 2D and 3D arts, sociology, and education. Mary successfully completed their degree in 1996.
In 1998, Mary obtained their Michigan Teaching certification from the State of Michigan, allowing their to teach in the state.
Three years later, in 2001, Mary obtained the GCDF (Global Career Development Facilitator) certification from the Center for Credentialing and Education, Inc.
Mary expanded their skills further by obtaining the South Central Michigan Works Workforce Development certification from the South Central Michigan Works Board of Directors in July 2010.
Lastly, in June 2013, Mary obtained the Business Solutions Professional certification from the Business Solutions Professional Team.
