Karl W. has a diverse work experience in various education-related roles. Karl started their career as an Engineering/CTE Teacher at High Tech High Media Arts from 2007 to 2010. Karl then worked as a Summer Engineering Education Graduate School Intern at Tufts University Center for Engineering Education and Outreach in 2011. Afterwards, they became a James F. Rothenberg Doctoral Fellow for Education Leadership at Harvard University from 2010 to 2013. Karl later joined Khan Academy, where they served as the Dean of the Discovery Lab from 2013 to 2014 and as a Doctoral Resident and Lead of Applied Learning from 2012 to 2013. Karl then founded and served as the Director of Discover Create Advance.org from 2014 to 2018. Karl also worked as a Project Engineering Consultant at Advent from 2016 to 2018. Karl held the position of Director at USC Brio College Preparatory School under Ednovate Inc from 2018 to 2020. In 2021, they became the Turnaround Principal at LEAD Brick Church in LEAD Public Schools, achieving significant growth and high MAP scores during their tenure. Currently, Karl is the Education Technology Consultant at Karl Wendt Consulting, and starting from 2023, they will be serving as the Director of Career Technical Education at Goodwill Industries of Middle Tennessee, Inc.
