Yuri Volobuev is an accomplished software engineer with extensive experience in high-performance computing and cloud services. Currently serving as a Principal Software Engineer at Google since March 2021, Yuri previously held the same title at Amazon Web Services from October 2016 to September 2021. Prior to that role, Yuri was a Senior Technical Staff Member at IBM from 2001 to October 2016, leading the development team for the General Parallel File System (GPFS) and contributing as a Senior Software Engineer in GPFS development. Yuri began a career in scientific computation as a consultant at the University of Minnesota Supercomputing Institute from January 2000 to June 2001. Educational qualifications include a Ph.D. in Chemical Physics with a focus on High-Performance Computing from the University of Minnesota (1995 - 2000) and an M.S. in Chemistry from the Higher Chemical College (1991 - 1996).
