Michael Curry

Michael Curry has extensive experience in the field of theatre and education, currently serving as the Director of the Center for Writing, Arts and Media and a Professor of Integrative Arts Studies and Theatre at Goucher College since September 1987. As Chair of the Department of Theatre, Michael teaches courses in Acting, Directing, Theatre for Social Change, and oversees the Senior Project for theatre students. Additionally, Michael was the General Manager of the Maryland Shakespeare Company from 2013 to July 2023, where responsibilities included coordinating educational programs like Shakespeare Alive and Riotous Youth. Michael also has a background as a freelance Actor, Director, Voice Over Actor, and Theatre Artist, working under the name J. Michael Curry since 1980. Michael holds a Master of Fine Arts in Directing and Theatrical Production from Indiana University Bloomington, earned between 1983 and 1986.
