Diane Archie

Ms. Archie was most recently a self-government negotiator for the Inuvialuit Regional Corporation (IRC), the organization established under the Inuvialuit land claim to represent the collective interests of the Inuvialuit of the Western Arctic in dealing with governments and the world at large.

Ms. Archie began her career with the IRC as a Youth Worker and took on increasingly senior roles in her time with the Corporation, including Assistant Comptroller, Executive Director of Community Development, and Chief Negotiator and Director of Intergovernmental Affairs. Ms. Archie has participated on many tables at the regional, territorial and national levels.

Prior to her election to the 19th Assembly in October of 2019, Ms. Archie also served two terms on the board of directors for the Inuvik Community Corporation, where she was vice-chair during the first term, and then secretary/treasurer.

Ms. Archie was also seconded to British Petroleum for a year – where she had the opportunity to learn about offshore oil and gas development as well as licensing requirements.

Ms. Archie was born and raised in Aklavik, Northwest Territories, where she was custom adopted by her grandparents. Raised in a traditional Inuvialuit lifestyle, she lived a nomadic way of life, moving from seasonal camp to seasonal camp, led by her Daduck, (dad), and her Nannuk, (mom). They were the greatest team she has ever known.

Ms. Archie attended residential school at Grollier Hall in Inuvik, where she completed Grade 12 and then graduated from the Arctic College Business Management Diploma program in Inuvik. While with the IRC, she completed her Bachelor of Management degree and a Master’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies.
