Before joining Major Tom, Mitchell founded their own social media consultancy called Motive Communications Inc. Mitchell has also worked as a part-time instructor at Simon Fraser University, specializing in digital and mobile marketing. Earlier in their career, Mitchell held marketing and sales positions at O'Neill Hotels and Resorts, Westin Hotels & Resorts, The Westin Bayshore Vancouver, Radisson Hotels Alberta, and Sheraton Suites Calgary Eau Claire.
