Nadya Phelan has a diverse work experience in the travel and tourism industry. Nadya started their career as an International Travel Consultant at Flight Centre in 2008 and later joined Goway Travel in 2011 as a Team Leader. In this role, they managed sales staff, handled client support systems, and identified opportunities for high-value clients. Nadya then worked at Development Counsellors International as a Travel Trade Marketing Account Manager, where they represented international destinations and promoted their conversion through the Canadian travel trade.
In 2015, Nadya returned to Goway Travel and took on the role of Europe Product and Marketing Manager. Nadya was responsible for procuring and negotiating product contracts, managing marketing activities, and resolving pricing discrepancies. After four years in this position, they transitioned to become a Training Manager at Goway Travel, focusing on creating and executing engaging training programs to enhance the learning experience for the travel community. Currently, Nadya holds the position of Director of Learning and Development at Goway Travel.
Alongside their industry work, Nadya also teaches courses at Centennial College, starting with an online and hybrid approach to learning about global destinations and later transitioning to teaching a Human Resource Management course in person.
Throughout their career, Nadya has demonstrated strong skills in relationship building, networking, and using their expertise to educate and encourage travel among Canadians.
Nadya Phelan studied at Western Sydney University from 2002 to 2004, where they obtained a Bachelor of Business degree in Tourism Management. Prior to that, they attended Humber College from 1998 to 2000 and obtained a Sectoral Diploma in Hospitality, Recreation, and Tourism. Nadya Phelan also has additional certifications, including "Independent Applying the QM Rubric (APPQMR)" from QM Quality Matters and "TICO" from the Travel Industry Council of Ontario.
