Ron Sabatino

VP Software Services at GPL Technologies

Ron Sabatino joined GPL Technologies in 2012 bringing more than 25 years of experience in post-production and visual effects as an executive, supervisor and artist. He previously served as Vice President/Technical Director and Visual Effects Supervisor HTV Illuminate, overseeing its newly-formed DI department. As part of his role, he designed a tapeless workflow for DI and implemented a new infrastructure that included SAN, NAS, color grading and transcoding components. He also designed the infrastructure for Illuminate 3D, the company’s a stereoscopic conversion facility.

Ron began his career in New York City as a video technician for post house Editel. In 1983 he joined boutique editorial facility Empire Video and assisted in the launch of its visual effects department. In 1991 Ron became Director of Visual Effects at Pacific Ocean Post, where he acted as producer and lead artist on commercial, episodic television, music video and corporate projects. He also contributed to numerous feature films including Batman Returns and Waterworld. In 1995, he joined the Japanese game company Square as the Vice President/Creative Director.

Ron founded Valley Circle Design in 1997, a company that provided creative and technical services for sports broadcasts, feature films, television, commercials, web design, product design and manufacturing. His background also includes a post as Executive Producer/General Manager with Larry Levinson Productions, where he built a visual effects department that produced effects shots for high profile television miniseries and other projects.
