Katerin Varela

Katerin Varela is an account manager at Gr0. Katerin previously worked as a project coordinator at Hope Is Foundation, where they wrote donation letters to secure funding for trauma-informed writing workshops and specific projects addressing mental health disparities. Varela also created social media content including journal prompts, quotes of the day, mental health resources, and content on racial and environmental justice.

Before their work at Hope Is Foundation, Varela was a writing coach at Boston Scores. There, they led after school poetry workshops for boys grades 3-5. Additionally, Varela managed the classroom, provided social and emotional support, and promoted healthy and positive communication among all students. Katerin also guided students through the process of writing, memorizing, and performing their own poems for the Boston Scores Poetry Slam.

Varela has also worked as a full-time fellow at 826 Boston and as a hostess at Walt Disney World.

Katerin Varela has a B.F.A. in Writing, Literature, and Publishing from Emerson College.
