Marc Chipouras

Marc Chipouras is the Senior Director of Engineering at Grafana Labs. Marc has over fifteen years of experience in the software industry, with a focus on data engineering and analytics.

Chipouras began their career as a Product Manager at Six88 Solutions in May 2006. Marc then co-founded FreshTracks.io in January 2017 and served as its CEO until November 2018. In October 2014, they joined CA Technologies as the Director of Data Engineering and Analytics. Marc led a team of engineers to design and implement a modern data pipeline using AVRO, Kafka, Kafka Streams, Hadoop, Spark, Tableau, Splunk, and R technologies. The data pipeline was extended to provide real-time insights into all performance measurements in test and production, including predictive modeling. Chipouras also implemented and analyzed distributed tracing to understand and troubleshoot service-oriented architecture. Marc managed a team of seven data scientists and data engineers across departments.

In January 2017, Chipouras left CA Technologies to join Rally Software as its Senior Director of Engineering. Marc built, communicated, and executed Rally's analytics strategy through its IPO and acquisition. In April 2019, they became an advisor at UP9, Inc., where they remained until September 2021. Marc returned to Grafana Labs as its Senior Director of Engineering in September 2021.

Marc Chipouras has a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder.
