Shu Cai

Shu Cai is a seasoned Machine Learning Engineer and Tech Lead currently at Grammarly since September 2021, focusing on data curation for large language model (LLM) training, LLM inference optimization, and feature development with LLMs. Prior to Grammarly, Shu served as a Tech Lead at Google from April 2015 to September 2021, contributing to machine learning and natural language processing applications across Google Health, Assistant, and Ads. Earlier experience includes a role as Relevance Algorithms Engineer at Groupon, where algorithm ranking and personalization were refined. Academic foundations were developed at the University of Southern California as a graduate student, complemented by internships at Google, Samsung Information Systems America, and Microsoft Search Technology Center Asia, focusing on software engineering, data mining, and semantics in machine translation.
