Mustafa Şentop

Mustafa Şentop was born on 6 August 1968 in Tekirdağ. He graduated from Istanbul University Faculty of Law. He completed his master's and a doctorate in the field of Public Law at Marmara University.

He started to work as a Research Assistant at Marmara University Faculty of Law in 1993. He became a doctor in 2002, an associate professor in 2005, and a professor in 2011. He gave lectures at undergraduate and graduate levels in many universities apart from Marmara University. He held various administrative positions at Marmara University.

He has been a writer, manager, and editor in various journals since his student years; Member of the editorial board, editor, and referee in academic journals, and Prof. Dr. Şentop served as the Istanbul President of the Center for Economic and Social Research (ESAM).

Prof. Dr. Şentop was elected as a member of the Central Decision and Administrative Board of the Justice and Development Party (AK Party) and served as the AK Party Deputy Chairman between 2012 and 2015.

He served in the Turkish Grand National Assembly as the AK Party Istanbul Deputy in the 24th, 25th, and 26th terms. He served as the Deputy Chairman of the Constitution Committee. In the 24th term, he served as the AK Party representative in the Constitutional Reconciliation Commission.26. He served as the Chairman of the Constitutional Commission during the period. He entered the Grand National Assembly of Turkey as AK Party Tekirdağ Deputy in the 27th term. While he was serving as the Deputy Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey in the same period, he was elected as the President of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey on February 24, 2019, and became the 29th President of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. He was re-elected Speaker of the Grand National Assembly on 7 July 2020.
