Alex Smart

Alex Smart is an experienced professional in facilities management and operations, currently serving as the Executive Director of Facilities and Operations at Grand Rapids Public Schools since March 2022. Prior to this role, Alex held the position of Executive Director of Planning, Design, and Construction at Tennessee State University from November 2019 to March 2022. Alex also served as the Director of Facilities at Kendall College of Art and Design from 2015 to November 2019 and worked at Grand Rapids Public Schools from April 2004 to February 2015 as Manager of Design, Construction & Renovation and Design Supervisor. Alex earned a Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) degree from Andrews University between 1984 and 1989.
