Andrea Stagg joins Grand River Solutions as Director of Consulting Services with extensive experience in higher education in-house legal settings at public and private colleges and universities. In this role, Andrea oversees the Consulting Services of Grand River Solutions. This includes Title IX and equity support, audits and compliance reviews, athletics consulting, accessibility and disability compliance, DEI initiatives, and Clery Act compliance solutions.
Throughout her career, Andrea has published legal and compliance writing about sexual and interpersonal violence prevention and response, the Clery Act, NCAA compliance, and program integrity. She has presented in-person and virtual training on the Clery Act, Title IX, FERPA and other privacy laws to thousands of higher education professionals, attorneys, and board members throughout career.
Andrea has served in various legal and compliance roles prior to joining Grand River Solutions. As Deputy General Counsel and Director of Government Relations & Compliance at Barnard College she oversaw all legal and compliance matters, including navigating the pandemic as chair of the College’s COVID-19 Vaccine Working Group. She has advised federal and state legislators on best practices in campus safety and sexual harassment prevention, and served on a state-wide campus working group with prevention and response partners throughout New York.
Before joining Barnard, Andrea was counsel to three colleges within the State University of New York and provided SUNY-wide Title IX compliance advice. At SUNY, Andrea co-coordinated a working group that created the policies that evolved into New York Education Law Article 129B, a groundbreaking state law providing fair and transparent practices to prevent and respond to sexual and interpersonal violence on campus. Andrea worked in federal higher education lobbying for Rutgers University before attending law school.
In 2014, Andrea was awarded the Commissioner’s Award from the State University Police, and in 2019 she received the First Decade Award from the National Association of College and University Attorneys. She graduated from Rutgers University and The George Washington University Law School.
