Gregory Sanial

Gregory Sanial is currently the Vice President for Finance and Administration and Treasurer at Grand Valley State University. Prior to this, they were the Chief of Staff for the U.S. Coast Guard. Gregory has also held positions at the Kent Hospital Finance Authority, Thompson Schools Foundation, Grand Rapids Symphony, Opera Grand Rapids, Grand Rapids Chamber, and Grand Valley State University. In addition, they have been a member of the Editorial Board for the American Society of Military Comptrollers and a member of the Board of Directors for the Prince William Sound Oil Spill Recovery Institute.

Gregory Sanial's educational career includes a BS in Marine Engineering from the US Coast Guard Academy, an MA in National Security and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval War College, and a MBA in Business Administration with a specialization in Finance and Operations Management from Penn State University. Gregory also has a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Organizational Leadership from Northcentral University and is a Sloan Fellow in Innovation and Global Leadership from the MIT Sloan School of Management. Additionally, they have completed coursework in Crisis Leadership in Higher Education from the Harvard Kennedy School and the Institute for Educational Management from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Gregory Sanial is also certified by the Association of Government Accountants (AGA) as a Certified Government Financial Manager and has been granted clearance for Top Secret information and access to Sensitive Compartmented Information by the OPM.

Gregory Sanial reports to Philomena V. Mantella, President. They are on a team with Jesse M. Bernal - Chief of Staff to the President & Vice President for Inclusion and Equity, Jenny Hall-Jones - VP, Student Affairs, and Miloš Topić - Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Digital Officer.
