Amy Rice has extensive experience in the education field. Amy began their career as a Science Teacher at J.F. Webb High School in 1992 and taught until 2000. Amy then served as an Assistant Principal at Mary Potter Intermediate School from 2001 to 2005. After that, they worked at Stovall-Shaw Elementary School, first as an Assistant Principal from 2005 to 2013, and then as Principal from 2013 to 2018. In 2018, Amy took on the role of Principal at J.F. Webb High School. Currently, they are the Director of Testing and Accountability and Instructional Support at Granville County Public Schools, a role they have held since October 2021.

Amy Rice earned a Bachelor's degree in Biology and Science Education from Appalachian State University from 1988 to 1992. Amy then pursued a Master's degree in Science Education from East Carolina University, which they completed from 1993 to 1994. Later, they obtained a Master's degree in School Administration from North Carolina State University between 2000 and 2002.
