GrayMatter Robotics
Yi-Wei (Mike) Chen has a diverse range of work experience in the robotics and engineering field. Yi-Wei (Mike) began their career as a Programming Design Teaching Assistant at National Cheng Kung University in 2017. Yi-Wei (Mike) then worked as a Research Assistant at the University of Southern California, where they collaborated with Boeing and Advanced Robotics for Manufacturing Institute (ARM) on the design of a semi-automation cell for prepreg composite sheet layup. Yi-Wei (Mike) also developed a CAD-To-Path robotics software application in partnership with Yaskawa Motoman, focusing on software architecture, motion control, and user interface design.
Following their time at USC, Yi-Wei joined Cubic Machinery as a Robotics Application Engineer. In this role, they developed a vision-based robot deburring system, optimizing the deburring quality through the analysis and monitoring of force sensor data. Yi-Wei (Mike) also delivered production-ready programs for controlling robot trajectory and peripheral signals.
Yi-Wei then worked at Tesla as a Manufacturing Controls Dev Engineer, specifically focusing on manufacturing controls development.
Most recently, they joined GrayMatter Robotics as a Robotics Engineer, responsible for the development of robotics software.
Yi-Wei (Mike) Chen obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from National Cheng Kung University, where they studied from 2013 to 2017. Subsequently, Chen pursued a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Southern California from 2018 to 2020. Yi-Wei (Mike) successfully obtained their Master of Science certification in May 2020 from the University of Southern California.
