Peter Walton is an accomplished finance executive with extensive experience in leadership roles across various industries. Currently serving as Vice President and CFO at The Great Books Foundation since April 2013, Peter previously held the position of Chief Financial Officer at the Museum of Contemporary Art from October 2005 to January 2013, where responsibilities included overseeing accounting and finance functions and engaging with Board of Trustees. Additional experience includes roles as a Sarbanes-Oxley Consultant at American Express and Control Solutions International, and finance management at PepsiCo - Quaker Oats, including corporate treasury and internal audit positions. Peter holds an MBA in Finance, Accounting, and Economics from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a BA in French and Italian from the University of Oxford.

The Great Books Foundation helps create a world of readers and thinkers of all ages. * We create reading and discussion programs for students and adults in the conviction that literacy and critical thinking help people of all ages become more knowledgeable, reflective, and engaged citizens. * We teach preK–12 students in Great Books programs how to think critically—sparking a passion for literature and ideas through the discussion of fiction, poetry, drama, and nonfiction. * We provide instruction for teachers, parents, and adult volunteers in Shared Inquiry™, a method of teaching and learning developed by Great Books that promotes close reading, careful questioning, active listening, and the respectful exchange of ideas. * We create partnerships with educational and community organizations to advance reading and discussion as a means for exploring shared concerns and common ground.
