James Weare

James Weare has extensive experience in information security and compliance. James is currently serving as the Director of Information Security & Compliance at Great Canadian Entertainment since March 2023. Prior to this, they worked at Manulife as an Information Security Officer from March 2021 to March 2023. James also held the role of Associate Manager, Technology, Audit Services at Manulife from July 2019 to March 2021.

Before joining Manulife, James worked at Duff & Phelps as the Vice President of Legal Management Consulting - Global Data Risk from November 2016 to February 2019. James was responsible for helping corporate legal departments, law firms, and government agencies improve business performance and organizational effectiveness.

In addition, James has previous experience at Scotiabank, where they held various roles in information security and technology. James served as a Senior Manager in Analytics Technology from September 2015 to October 2016. James also worked as an Information Security Analyst Advisory in Release Code Management from July 2013 to August 2015. Prior to that, they were a Team Lead in Technical Security Services from June 2012 to July 2013 and an Information Security Analyst from May 2010 to December 2012.

James Weare completed their education with an Honours Bachelor of Applied Information Science (B.A.I.Sc.) degree in Information Systems Security from Sheridan College, which they attended from 2007 to 2011. Additionally, James has earned several certifications, including the Certificate of Cloud Security Knowledge (CCSK) from the Cloud Security Alliance in 2022, the Certified Information Systems Auditor® (CISA) from ISACA in 2021, the Certified Data Privacy Solutions Engineer™ (CDPSE™) from ISACA in 2020, the Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals certification from Microsoft in 2020, and the CISSP certification from (ISC)² in 2014.
