Miranda Niemiec is an experienced operations manager and horticulture content specialist at Great Garden Plants, Inc., since October 2020. Previously, Miranda served as a doctoral student at Penn State University, focusing on the genetic, physiological, and ecological basis of plant adaptation to drought and low soil fertility. During undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan, significant research projects included examining mitochondrial genome changes in land plants and utilizing Python programming for phylogenetic analysis. As a bioblitz intern with the National Park Service, responsibilities included planning events to engage the public in biodiversity science and leading educational programs for students. Miranda also founded the Community Impact Awards for Students, promoting community service and connecting over 2,000 students with volunteer opportunities. Education includes a graduate degree in Botany/Plant Biology from Penn State University and a Bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan.
