Barry Fontaine has a diverse and extensive work experience in the television industry. Barry started their career as an ENG Photographer at CBC Television in 1989 before joining CTV News, where they worked as an ENG Photographer/Editor for many years. During their time at CTV, they also served as the ENG Photography Supervisor and had the opportunity to work at various locations, including Vancouver, Kelowna, and Edmonton.
In 2010, Barry had a significant role as an ENG/EFP Photographer for Canada's Olympic Broadcast Media Consortium during the Winter Olympics in Vancouver and Whistler. Their work received high praise, with Brian Williams, the Lead Host for CTV's coverage, commending their video capturing the emotional moment of Jon Montgomery celebrating with a pitcher of beer after winning Skeleton Gold.
Barry's career later advanced to freelancing, allowing him to showcase their skills as a Director of Photography (DOP), ENG Videographer, Director, and Drone Camera Specialist. Barry worked with notable companies such as Bigfoot Media, Great Pacific Media, OMNI Television British Columbia, and Insight TV, where they contributed to various documentary and reality TV productions.
Currently, Barry is working as a Director and DOP for Omnifilm Entertainment Ltd., overseeing the production of the television series "Bush Wreck Rescue" on Discovery Channel in Canada. The show is now in its second season.
