Matthew Tibbs is an accomplished sound designer and educator with extensive experience in both academic and professional settings. Currently serving as an Assistant Professor of Sound Design at the University of Cincinnati since August 2018, Matthew has also been actively involved with the Great River Shakespeare Festival since June 2012, contributing as Sound Designer for notable productions. Additionally, Matthew operates a successful sound design business, providing audio solutions for various media including film, theatre, and dance. Previous academic positions include Assistant Professor at Ball State University and Adjunct Faculty at the University of Utah, where Matthew taught sound design and mentored students. Matthew’s diverse portfolio includes residency as Sound Designer at Pioneer Theatre Company, where numerous productions were designed, and earlier roles such as Visiting Professor at Pacific University and Scene Shop Manager at George Fox University. Matthew holds an MFA in Sound Design from the University of Cincinnati and a BA in Communication Arts from George Fox University.
