Christopher Murphy

Christopher Murphy has a diverse work experience, with their most recent role being the Chief Security Officer at Great Southern Wood Preserving since October 2019. Prior to this, they worked independently as an Independent Consultant at J C Murphy Consulting and as the Executive Vice President at Skye-Global Security Services in 2018. From 2010 to 2018, they served as the Director of the Montgomery Department of Public Safety, where they were responsible for overseeing multiple agencies and improving operational efficiency. Christopher has also held positions as an Adjunct Professor of Ethics in Leadership at Auburn University & Montgomery Police Department, Director of the Alabama Department of Public Safety, and Adjunct Professor of Criminal Justice Ethics at The University of Alabama at Birmingham. Earlier in their career, they worked for the United States Secret Service as a Special Agent in Charge and Assistant Special Agent in Charge in the Birmingham District Office.

Christopher Murphy completed their Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice/Safety Studies from Auburn University between 1976 and 1981. Christopher then pursued a Master's degree in Administration of Criminal Justice from Troy University, although the exact start and end years for this degree program are not provided. More recently, in 2015 and 2016, Murphy attended The Naval Postgraduate School, where they completed the Executive Leaders Program with a focus on Homeland Defense & Security.
