James Riley has extensive work experience in marketing and communications. James began their career as an Account Executive at Bear Advertising in 1984 and later became the President of Slaton & Riley, Inc. in 1988. In 1992, they joined Cunningham, Black, Slaton & Riley, Inc. as a Partner/Senior Account Executive. James then moved to Great Southern Wood Preserving, Inc. in 1996, where they served as the Marketing Director before being promoted to Chief Marketing Officer in 2008. After twelve years in that role, they transitioned to their current position as the Chief Communications Officer at Great Southern Wood Preserving, Inc. in January 2021.
James Riley has a comprehensive education history that spans several institutions and areas of study. In 1979, they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Tulane University. Continuing their education, in 1999, James completed the Marketing Management Program at Columbia Business School through their Executive Education program. In 2005, they furthered their studies at Harvard Business School, where they pursued Sustainable Marketing Leadership through their Executive Education program. In 2009, James returned to Harvard Business School for Executive Education and completed a program titled "Taking Marketing Digital." In 2013, they attended the MIT Sloan School of Management to delve into fields such as "Big Data: Making Complex Things Simpler" and "Strategic Marketing for the Technical Executive." Lastly, in 2015 and 2016, James attended Columbia Business School for two consecutive years to study Digital Marketing Strategy.
