M. Nickell is an Attorney Fellow at Greater Boston Legal Services, specializing in defending low-income tenants, families, and communities against eviction and displacement. Prior to this role, Nickell worked as a Student Attorney at Harvard Legal Aid Bureau, representing low-income tenants and homeowners facing foreclosure in eviction cases. Nickell also has experience as a Ford Foundation Summer Fellow at Public Advocates, where they researched legal questions related to housing justice. Nickell holds a J.D. from Harvard Law School and a BA in Linguistics from the University of California, Berkeley.

Greater Boston Legal Services (GBLS) plays an indispensable role in the lives of poor people in the Boston area by providing free, high-quality civil (noncriminal) legal assistance to low-income individuals and families. GBLS helps its clients navigate the complex maze of laws and regulations, enabling them to obtain the basic necessities of life. GBLS annually provides assistance to over 10,000 people who live at or below 125% of the federal poverty standard ($30,750 for a family of 4).
