Heather Smart has a diverse work experience in the financial and actuarial consulting industry. Heather began their career as a Summer Intern at Mercer in 2009 and later joined the company as an Actuarial Consultant in 2010. During their time at Mercer, they held various consultant roles and also had a secondment as an Actuarial Consultant. In 2015, they moved to Rice Warner where they worked as an Actuarial Consultant for three years. In 2018, they joined London Life / Great-West Lifeco Inc, where they started as a Manager, Market Risk and later advanced to the role of Director, Investment Risk. Currently, they are serving as the AVP & Global Head of Financial Risk Strategy at the company.
Heather Smart earned a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Mathematics from the University of York from 2007 to 2010. Heather also obtained certifications including a Chartered Enterprise Risk Actuary (CERA) from CERA Global Association in 2016 and a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries (FIA) from the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries in 2014.
