Nathan Putnam is an experienced engineer with broad expertise in both the military and civilian sectors. After graduating from the University of Texas at Austin with a PhD in energy systems, they worked as a Research Industrial Engineer for the US Army Corps of Engineers for ten years, where they supervised a team of software developers, built complex software models of integrated technology systems, and transitioned research models into operational use. Prior to that, they worked at the university as a Graduate Researcher, where they wrote their master's thesis on energy systems for unmanned aerial vehicles and their PhD dissertation on off-grid military habitation. Before attending graduate school, they worked as a Mechanical Engineer at KaZaK Composites, where they designed subscale and full-scale buckling-restrained earthquake braces and produced composites with liquid crystal polymer and carbon fiber. Most recently, they have been named as the Chief Technology Officer at Green Bridge Corporation, beginning in 2022.

Nathan Putnam has a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin, which they obtained between 2008 and 2012. Before that, they earned a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the same institution, completing it from 2006 to 2008. Nathan obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics from Williams College, which they attended from 2000 to 2004.
