Jerry Velasquez

German Velasquez is a seasoned climate change professional with extensive experience in global environmental management and disaster risk reduction. Currently serving as the Director of the Division of Mitigation and Adaptation at the Green Climate Fund since March 2017, Velasquez leads initiatives in climate adaptation and mitigation while providing technical support for sustainable investments. Prior roles include Chief of Section at the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction, Regional Coordinator for Asia and the Pacific, and various leadership positions within UNEP and the Global Environment Facility. Velasquez holds advanced degrees in Hydrology and Water Resources, along with a Civil Engineering degree, and completed a Certificate in Sustainable Finance at the University of Cambridge.
