Ursula Merten has extensive experience in the insurance industry, with a focus on operations, strategy, and transformation. Ursula is currently the Vice President of Operations at Green Shield Risk Solutions, where they utilize technology and insurance to incentivize investment in durable and resilient properties. Prior to this, Ursula served as an Advisory Board Officer at The Independence Hub, a not-for-profit corporation promoting neurodivergent talent in the insurance ecosystem. Ursula has also held leadership positions at prōō, where they served as a Managing Partner, and Quantumerge, where they were the Chief Operating Officer. In addition, Ursula has worked at omni:us as the Director of Insurance Strategy & Transformation and at AIG as a Director. Ursula gained valuable experience at PwC as a Manager in the Actuarial Services insurance practice area, working with various insurers, reinsurers, and regulators. Earlier in their career, Ursula held roles at Resolute Management, Inc., Alliant Insurance Services, and Lumbermens Mutual Casualty (now known as Kemper), where they served as a Sr. Reinsurance Claims Manager. Throughout their career, Ursula has developed expertise in areas such as organizational transformation, claims management, litigation, and risk management.
Ursula Merten has a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree in Business Administration, Management and Operations from Robert Morris University - Illinois. Ursula also holds an Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree in Business Administration and Management, General from the University of Phoenix. In addition to their degrees, Ursula has obtained several certifications, including "Fundamentals in Claims and Coverage Law" from the American Educational Institute in 2003, "Reinsurance Management & Accounting" from the University of Wisconsin in 2001, and "Reinsurance: Advanced Concepts" also from the University of Wisconsin in 2001.
