Chonda Simon has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Chonda began their career in 1990 as a Driver in the US Army and worked until 1993. Chonda then worked as a Maintenance Worker II for the City of Eugene from 2001 to 2005, where they focused on promoting a safe work environment within the waste water collections crew. From 2006 to 2007, they served as a Safety Coordinator for Pacific Northern Industrial, where they generated safety training, advised upper management on safety programs, and conducted onsite safety audits. Chonda then joined Advanced Mechanical Inc. in 2008 as a Safety Coordinator, overseeing all safety activities, conducting safety audits, and enforcing compliance with safety rules and regulations. In the same year, they also started their own business, Certified Safety Services LLC, where they helped clients with workplace safety by providing services such as shutdown support, custom training, and safety plan development. In 2013, Chonda became the Safety Manager at Port Townsend Paper Corporation, a role they held until 2017. In this position, they were responsible for managing safety and implementing safety programs. From 2017 to 2019, Chonda worked as a Safety and Health Compliance Officer for Washington State Labor and Industries, leading investigations, identifying safety hazards, and documenting findings. Currently, they are serving as both the Interim Corporate Safety Manager and the Oregon/SW Washington Regional Safety Manager at Greenberry Industrial, starting their roles in 2022.

Chonda Simon earned an Associate of Applied Science degree in Occupational Safety and Health from Columbia Southern University from 2012 to 2013. Prior to that, they obtained a certificate as a Safety and Health Construction Specialist from the University of Washington/OSHA Education Center in Seattle, WA/Portland, OR in 2008.
