Richard Armstrong

Governor at Greenhead College

Richard became a governor at Greenhead in 2018 after serving on the Audit and Risk Committee for one year as an Associate Governor. He has recently been elected as Corporation Chair and now serves on the Finance and Estates Committee and the Quality and Standards Committee. His daughter currently attends Greenhead.

He has a degree in Social Policy and Administration from York University and joined NHS England in 2013 after working for the Department of Health for over 30 years. Richard was a senior manager working for NHS England, based in Leeds as Head of Public Health and Primary Care for the North Region until his retirement in summer 2018. In his various roles he has been responsible for managing multi-million pound budgets, including leading the delivery of capital investments in NHS Services and has gained considerable experience in chairing meetings and in negotiating change. He now undertakes health service consultancy.

Other interests include sport and reading and his leisure time involves walking and cooking.
