Matt Smalley

Matt Smalley is a Principal with Cambridge Capital, and joined the firm in 2018. He focuses on all aspects of the firm's investment activities and actively serves as a Director of several Cambridge portfolio companies.

Over the last 10+ years, Matt has executed over $1.1 billion of buyout, growth equity, structured equity and venture capital investments globally across various strategies and structures.

Before Cambridge Capital, Matt was a senior member of the Principal Transactions Group of Macquarie Capital, pursuing, executing and monitoring private equity investments in a variety of industries, using Macquarie's balance sheet capital. Before Macquarie, Matt spent over 5 years with Insight Partners, pursuing, executing and monitoring private equity and growth investments in technology companies globally.

Matt's historical exited investments (completed while he was at previous investment firms) include nCino (NasdaqGS:NCNO), New Relic (NYSE:NEWR), Yext (NYSE:YEXT), Laureate Education (NasdaqGS:LAUR), Modern Media Acquisition Corp. (reverse merger with Akazoo S.A. (NasdaqGM:SONG)), Unitrends (merged with Kaseya) and Blackbird Group (merged with BeyondTrust; acquired by Veritas Capital).

Matt's other historical investments (completed while he was at previous investment firms) include E2open (supply chain software), Mediaspectrum and Fast Track Asia.

Matt graduated with Honors from New York University's Leonard N. Stern School of Business with a dual degree in Finance and General Accounting.
