Data Science Advisor at Grey Matter

Sam Wood is the Data Science Lead at Grey Matter, and has been working in the field for over two years. Sam started their career as a Teaching Assistant at Northwestern University School of Professional Studies, where they taught the toolkit of data analysis to the inaugural cohort of the Northwestern DataScience Bootcamp. Sam then moved on to Groupon, where they worked in Strategy & Operations Analytics. There, they maintained data pipelines, Tableau dashboards, implemented new data models, and had cross-departmental initiatives driving revenue growth for Groupon's core business driver. Sam also automated heavily repetitive tasks utilizing Python & SQL to have weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly reporting sent via email using the SMTP library and staged on a VM. In their daily work, they interacted with LINUX CLI environment for deploying new ETL jobs using CRON. Sam also built and improved upon Python packages for other analysts to utilize to automate redundant tasks and drive deeper insight using more advanced statistical methods.

Sam Wood has a Master's Degree in Urban Planning and Policy - Economic Development from the University of Illinois Chicago. They also have a degree in Sam'story from Hobart and William Smith Colleges, as well as a degree in Sam'story from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. Sam Wood also has a high school diploma from Blair Academy.
