John Haysbert

John Haysbert is a Vice President of Government and Institutional Relations with Hitachi ABB Power Grids in Washington, D.C. He is responsible for leading all US Government and Institutional Relations on a variety of issues. Previously, John was a Managing Partner, External Affairs and Government Relations with H-Cubed Solutions and a Director, Federal Government Affairs at Duke Energy.

Throughout his career, John has worked on several issues at the local, state, and federal level regarding legislative and regulatory initiatives in the utility and manufacturing industry – inclusive of transmission infrastructure, energy efficiency, tariffs, anti-dumping, gas distribution, cyber security, smart grid technology, coal ash, disaster preparedness and human resources.

Previously, Haysbert worked in the United States Senate on legislation referred to the Energy and Natural Resources Committee (Brookings Institute). He provided industry knowledge to members of congress on cost implications and benefits for the 2009 American Clean Energy Leadership Act (ACELA)—in addition to clean energy technology deployment, enhanced energy efficiency, improved energy security, energy innovation and workforce energy markets.

Haysbert also held several roles within Cinergy (now Duke Energy) in Meter Operations, Billing/Accounting, Customer Service Operations, Inclusion Strategies, Human Resources, Corporate Security and Facilities. A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, Haysbert graduated with an MBA and a Bachelor of Arts with honors from Xavier University in Cincinnati. He and his wife Robyn are active in several professional and community organizations and they have a daughter and son.
