Cory was previously the Publisher at Mic, where they co-lead the company with the CEO and managed the newsroom, audience, analytics, product and engineering teams. Cory helped to diversify and grow Mic’s audience across platforms and shaped Mic’s journalism into a substantive product for an engaged audience.

Before Mic, Cory was the Executive Director, Emerging News Products at The Washington Post. In this role, they oversaw the development of new products and features for The Washington Post’s website. Cory also worked on increasing reader engagement and loyalty.

Cory began their career as an Assistant Managing Editor at seattletimes.com. Cory was later promoted to Managing Editor at NOLA.com, where they oversaw all news coverage and led a team of reporters and editors.

Cory Haik attended the University of New Orleans, where they studied communication theory. Cory then attended Nicholls State University, where they studied journalism.
