Adelheid M.A.T. Byttebier has extensive experience in public service and governance, currently serving as Vice Mayor in Schaerbeek since December 2012, focusing on Dutch-language education, culture, equal opportunities, and procurement. Byttebier is also a member of the PAC political advisory committee for CIVITAS and has been on the board of Klarafestival since 2001. As a longstanding member of the Flemish green party Groen since June 1993, Byttebier has held various roles, including a member of the police council from December 2012 to December 2018 and board member positions at Brussels Onthaalbureau and STIB-MIVB. Previously, Byttebier served as a member of parliament from May 1999 to June 2009 and as Minister of Welfare, Health, and Equal Opportunities in the Flemish Government. Educational qualifications include a Master’s in Sociology from Vrije Universiteit Brussel and corporate governance training from Vlerick Business School.
